Phyllis D. Chamberlaine

Phyllis D. Chamberlaine, 78, of Strawberry Hill Rd., Town of Johnstown, died Friday morning at home. Born Oct. 15, 1931, in Clyde, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Sapp DeJohn. She graduated from Cortland State University in 1953. Phyllis was a loving wife and mother who loved to spend her time with her family. She owned and operated, with her husband, the Adirondack Sport Center in Johnstown from 1977 to 1997. She is survived by: her husband of 50 years, John "Jack" Chamberlaine of Johnstown, whom she married Nov. 25, 1954, in Clyde, N.Y.; her children, Dawn Chamberlaine of North Haven, Conn., Jeff Chamberlaine and his wife, Abbie, of Gloversville, Cathy Chamberlaine of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kristen Chamberlaine and her husband, Mike McMullen, of Averill Park; six grandchildren, Andrew and Evan Chamberlaine, Lauren Kearney, Ian Chamberlaine, Robert and Olivia Whitman. Phyllis is predeceased by: her sister, Gloria Flieschman; and her brother, Robert DeJohn. A Mass of Christian burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home.
