SPRAKERS - State police have charged two area women accused of fleeing the state with murder suspect Gerry King last week.

King, of 1324 Carlisle Road, Sprakers, was arrested Nov. 17 in Connecticut and charged by New York State Police with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of his father, 63-year-old George King of Sharon Springs.

On Tuesday, troopers based in Princetown said they have arrested Joleen Henderson, 36, of Carlisle Road in Sprakers, whom they identified as Gerry King's girlfriend, and her mother, Alice Williams, 72, of Sharon Springs.

The two women and Henderson's 13-year-old son were with King in Williams' van when they were detained in Connecticut, troopers said. Troopers said Henderson destroyed evidence in the case, and Williams was charged because she provided the vehicle King used to flee the state.

Henderson was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, tampering of physical evidence, fourth-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. She was sent to the Schoharie County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and $50,000 bond.

Williams was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution and released on her own recognizance.

George King was found dead last week at his home, the victim of blunt-force trauma to the head and chest, troopers said.
