Marlene J. Loucks, 73, of Forest Avenue, Amsterdam, New York, passed away Tuesday morning, November 17, 2009, at the Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.

Born in Hoffmans, New York, on October 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Lulu Semeton Meca.

Marlene received her education in the Hoffmans and Amsterdam school system.

She was last employed as a clerk for New York state in Albany, New York.

Marlene enjoyed being creative in her spare time with sewing, knitting and cooking, but above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a former member of the Rotterdam Eagles ladies auxiliary and the P.A.V. ladies auxiliary in Amsterdam, New York.

Marlene was predeceased by: her husband, Charles Loucks; and her sister, Caroline Langlier.

Marlene is survived by: two sons, Richard Lasher Jr. of Rotterdam, New York, and Jeffrey Lasher of Mayfield, New York; one daughter, Michele (Larry) Pattee of Scotia, New York; one brother, Peter Meca Jr. of Amsterdam; two sisters, Ruth Auspelmyer of Glenville, New York, and Irene Laska of Johnstown, New York; five grandchildren, Lauren, Shannon and Alicia Lasher and Olivia and William Pattee. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9:00 at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, New York 12010.

Interment will be at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 6 at the mortuary.
