Area players earn Foothills Council honors

The Johnstown Lady Bills and Glens Falls Lady Indians split their Foothills Council games and shared the 2009 Foothills Council field hockey championship.

The teams also squared off in the Section II Class B championship game with Glens Falls edging the Lady Bills in overtime.

It is no surprise that the teams dominated the all-star selections for the Foothills Council.

Senior forward Karly Vdoviak, senior forward Kendra Cooper. senior forward Mary Jane Carville and junior midfielder Alyssa Brand all earned first team honors for the Lady Bills.

Earning first-team honors for the Gloversville Huskies was senior forward Victoria Bluvas.

Rounding out the first team from Glens Falls were midfielder Kate Gillespie, midfielder Emily White, goalie Brittany Daniels and forward Pauline Searles. Melanie Middleton, Megan Fish, Katelyn Edwards and Liz Baldwin were honored from Queensbury along with Heather Casey (South Glens Falls), Erin Connelly (Scotia-Glenville) and Breanne Sprague (Hudson Falls).

The Lady Bills' Kayla Satterlee, Abigail Heroth, Gabby D'Antonino and Carly Brunco along with Gloversville's Ashley Dona were selected to the Foothills Council second team.

Garnering honorable mention status for Gloversville was Christine Iannotti. She was joined by Johnstown's Viv Panetta and Katherine Bant.

The Lady Bills finished the season with a 15-2-0 record, while Gloversville closed out the season with a 1-15-0 overall record.

First Team
