CHARLESTON - A Schoharie County man is accused of being drunk when he drove two disabled people to the movies Friday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said Brandon J. Murphy, 24, of 330 Main St., Middleburg, was working as a driver for the Schoharie County chapter of NYSARC and was transporting two disabled ARC residents to the movies when he was involved in a property-damage accident.

Deputies said Murphy was found to be intoxicated, and he was charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent, imprudent speed, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to stop for a stop sign.

He was arraigned at the Glen Town Court and held in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Charleston Town Court at 7 p.m. Thursday.
