County schedules swine flu clinics
Vaccines to be given at 2 sitesBy ZACH SUBAR, The Leader-Herald
FONDA - The Montgomery County Public Health Department has scheduled swine flu clinics at two locations in the county on Nov. 21.
A news release said the clinics are free for Montgomery County residents. They will be held in conjunction with St. Mary's Hospital from 8 a.m. to 12 noon that day in Amsterdam and Canajoharie.
In Amsterdam, the clinic will be at St. Mary's Memorial Family Health Center at 4988 Route 30, and in Canajoharie, it will take place at St. Mary's Family Health Center at 48 Erie Blvd.
Community Health Educator Debbie Voght said the county has enough swine flu vaccine for both clinics, and it could run additional clinics once it receives more of the vaccine.
The clinics will be free.
The release said vaccinations first will be given to people in groups considered at high risk for the disease.
Those groups include: pregnant women, children and young people ages six months to 24 years, people who live with or provide care for infants under six months of age, people ages 25 to 64 who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for flu-related complications, and health care/emergency medical services workers.
For more information, call the Public Health Department at 853-3531 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
