Charles Holden Bachner

Charles Holden Bachner "Honei," age 94, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 31, 1915, in Gloversville, a son of the late Clemons and Elizabeth Holden Bachner.

Mr. Bachner graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill Preparatory school and attended Colgate University. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a glove manufactuer for the former C. J. Bachner and Sons Inc.

Mr. Bachner was a former member of the Gloversville Eccentric Club and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Fulton County National Bank and Trust Co.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 67 years, the former Estelle Citronberg; three daughters, Barbara Vingerhoet (Paul) of Gloversville, Liz Wimmer (Larry) of Belmont, Mass., and Carol Bachner of Gloversville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Martz, Kaye Amurao, Deborah Thompson, Megan Hutchinson, Lisa Hutchinson, Natasha Wimmer, Rachel Wimmer, Leah Wimmer and Noah Wimmer; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will recieve friends Friday, November 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph English of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Gloversville and Rev. Larry Wimmer, son-in-law of the deceased, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville NY, 12078, or the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 31-33 East Fulton St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
