Joe Hanchar is a World War II veteran and was a self-employed painting contractor, retiring in 1987. He is a renowned New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and loves to watch games throughout the baseball and football seasons.

Dorothy Hanchar graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 1970, became a substitute school teacher and then worked as a stenographer/secretary for the New York state Office of Probation before retiring from the New York state Office of Environmental Conservation in 1989.
