JOHNSTOWN - HealthLink Littauer, the community health and wellness service of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, has announced a "Diabetes Alert" event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at HealthLink's wellness center, 213 Harrison St. Extension.

"You could already have diabetes and not know it," Sue Cridland, Littauer's director of community education, said in a news release.

Participants will complete a simple diabetes risk assessment form, have their blood-sugar level tested with immediate results and receive information on preventing and controlling diabetes.

This free screening will be open to the general public, and no appointments are needed. Participants are asked not to eat or drink anything but water for at least three hours before the blood test.
