Reconsider privatization
I address this letter to the Fulton County Board of Supervisors. I have read in various newspapers that you are thinking of abolishing and/or privatizing the Fulton County Nursing Service and other health-related facilities within the county.
I feel you should be finding ways to expand its staff to make these agencies and facilities more of a profitable asset to the county. If there are angels of mercy, they fill the bill. In recent years, I have been stricken with cancer and had a stroke along with other various health-related problems. The Fulton County Nursing Service has seen me through every catastrophic illness I've had. They are caring, encouraging and understanding caregivers, and I could have never gotten through all these illnesses without them.
I have had other home-care agencies, but they were not to what my particular situation called for. I ask, and I think I probably speak for most of the elderly population, that you reconsider any thought of closing or privatizing any health-care-related facilities in this county. We don't need more closings of county departments. We need more expansions within our county departments to make more revenue for Fulton County.
