John R. Lane Sr.

John R. Lane Sr., age 66, of Caroga Lake, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a long illness. He was born on June 26, 1943, in Gloversville.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 until his discharge in 1967.

Mr. Lane was employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the Fulton County Highway Department for 28 years until his retirement.

John was an avid hunter, fisherman and Yankees fan. His mornings were spent at the local diners visiting with his friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Dawn Blowers Lane, whom he married on March 16, 1968; one son, John R. Lane Jr. (Andrea) of Gloversville; four daughters, Penny May ( Kevin) of Johnstown, Kelly Lane (Rick) of Gloversville, Gail Redner (Larry) of Gloversville, and Amy Wilson ( John) of Johnstown; three sisters, Dorothy Bradshaw of Lassellsville, Doris Davis of Herkimer, and Barbara Kadaraitis of Johnstown; his mother, Charlotte Cheney Lane of Caroga Lake; seven grandchildren, Rodney-John, John Robert III, Ryan, Tyler, Ashleigh, Rosealee, Arianna; son-in-law, Rodney May; nieces; nephews and cousins.

John was predeceased by: his father, Milton Lane.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Kenneth Sickler will preside. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in North Bush Cemetery.
