Michael J. Piehuta, age 94, of Caroga Lake, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009, at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville, after a long illness. He was born on September 8, 1915, in Little Falls, a son of the late Michael Piehuta and Maria Roy Piehuta. He was employed as a foreman for Gloversville Leather and later worked at Ellithorp Tanning Co. until he retired in 1980. He was a former member of the Gloversville Eagles, Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club and the Nick Stoner Snowmobile Club. Mr. Piehuta loved Hunting, Fishing, Bowling, gardening and wine making.

On September 2, 1939, he was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Robbins Piehuta and she passed on February 2, 1987.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara A. Dutcher of Johnstown and Mary A. Pradelski (John) of Johnstown; one son, Michael J. Piehuta (Carol) of Johnstown; one brother, Joseph Piehuta of Gloversville; seven grandchildren, Howard E. Dutcher III (Karen), Jeffrey M. Dutcher (Monique), Lisa Piehuta, Christopher Piehuta (Hope), John Pradelski Jr., Dawn Robin (Scotty), Melissa Schlee (Paul); nineteen great-grandchildren, Skyler, Brittney R., Nathan, Courtney, Nicholas, Cassidy, Gino, Ashley, Adam, Alyssa, Lindsey, Brittney P., Shana, Morgan, Kelsey, Gannon, Sydney, Jonah, Christian; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank Peters, Stanley Piehuta; and a sister, Helen Hapman.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Glebe and East Clinton Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Ken Swain will be the celebrant.

Friends and family may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 North Melcher Street, Johnstown.

Interment will be in North Bush Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, 847 Co. Hwy. 122, Gloversville, NY 12078, or the charity of one's choice.
