Cross Country Roundup: Gloversville falls to Glens Falls in home meet
By The Leader-HeraldGLOVERSVILLE - Gloversville's Pat Peterson won the race, but Glens Falls won Tuesday's Foothills Council meet.
Peterson covered the 2.8-mile course in a time of 14:33 to earn the win.
Glens Falls claimed second through 10th spot to earn the 20-39 win. Ryan Streeter was the Indians' top finisher, placing second with a time of 15:17.
Matt Albrecht (17:07) was 11th for Gloversville, while Darryl Pinkerton (17:25) was 13th.
Other Gloversville finishers included Jake Gunderson (14th, 18:56), Kyle Berck (15th, 21:22) and Justin Moore (16th, 23:56).
In the girls race, Glens Falls won by a 15-50 margin over an incomplete Gloversville squad. Glens Falls claimed five of the top six spots, led by Erika Kuhn, who won with a time of 18:12.
Kellie Lawton was Gloversville's top finisher, placing fifth with a time of 18:54. Stef Peck (19:14), Sam Bielli (20:07) and Zoe Fancher (24;35) also competed for Gloversville.

HUDSON FALLS - Queensbury claimed 26 of the top 28 spots in a dominating win over Johnstown and Hudson Falls.
Queensbury's Ian Flint won the 2.7-mile boys' race with a time of 14:27.
Johnstown earned a split on the day with a win over the host Tigers.
Daeshan Buseck led the Sir Bills with a 13th-place finish, posting a time of 16:09.
Anthony McCarthy (16:09) was 14th for Johnstown, Mark Horning (18:21) was 29th, Kyle Pollak (19:00) was 39th, Alex Kuban (22:54) was 56th and Brian Vair (28:23) was 58th.
Zach Porlier was Hudson Falls' top finisher, placing 32nd with a time of 18:31.
In the girls' race, Queensbury posted wins over Johnstown and Hudson Falls.
The Lady Bills salvaged a split with a win over Hudson Falls.
Queensbury claimed the top 16 spots in the girls race with Brittany Winslow finishing first with a time of 16:33.
Emily Ackerknecht led Johnstown with an 18th-place finish with a time of 20;32.
Katie Blair (20:38) was 20th for the Lady Bills, Lauren Mosher (20:50) was 23rd, Quincey Brabant (21:29) was 27th and Emily Fettinger (24:14) was 37th.
Tiana Wells was Hudson Falls' top finisher, placing 17th with a time of 20:27.

MAYFIELD - Mayfield's Jesse McNamara won the boys' race with a time of 18:26 to lead the Panthers to a sweep of Schoharie and Schenectady Christian.
Jacob Urys was Schenectady Christian's top finisher, placing second with a time of 18;55, while Connor Brady led Schoharie with a third-place finish in a time of 19:14.
Dave Krutz (19:14) was fourth for the Panthers, Doug Brown (19:45) was fifth, Jamie McNamara (20;09) was seventh, Lance Frasier (20:20) was eighth and Sam Jones (20:27) was ninth.
Other Mayfield finishers include Tom McClellan (11th, 21:25), Mike Young (17th, 23:27), Greg Valachovic (18th, 23:32), Lucas Mormando (26th, 27:23), Shaun Bridge (27th, 28:08) and Tom Steele (28th, 28:52.
In the girls race, just six competitors took part as all three schools fielded incomplete teams.
Mayfield's Jessica Glode won the girls' race with a time of 26:20, while Schoharie's Jenna Haynes (27:01) was second. Mayfield's Cassandra VanNostrand (27:57) was third.

GALWAY - Fonda-Fultonville swept both the boys' and girls' meets at Galway.
Canajoharie-Fort Plain salvaged a split on the boys side with a win over Galway, while the girls' team went 0-2 on the day.
In the 3-mile boys race, Fonda-Fultonville's Zak Godfrey finished first with a time of 16:06.
Galway's Matt Best (16:32) was second and Canajoharie-Fort Plain's Terence Petty (16:34) was third.
Fonda-Fultonville had seven others place in the top 10 including Cody Shave (fourth, 16:48), Matt Hoffman (fifth, 17:12), Mike Scott (sixth, 17:13), Ian Chapin (seventh, 17:36), Cody Russell (eighth, 17:40), Jared Zaetz (ninth, 17;47) and Cody Cooper (10th, 17:54).
Tyler Angioli (18:03) was 11th for the Braves and Mike Giuffre (18:13) was 12th.
In the girls race, FFCS swept the top three spots. Kim Geniti (18:52) was first, Sam Phelps (19:51) was second and Taylor Quon (22:04) was third.
Other finishers for the Lady Braves included Paula Egelston (eighth, 22:51), Alicia DeRuscio (ninth, 23:12) and Danielle Flander (13th, 25:31).
Jade Cowper was Galway's top finisher, placing fourth with a time of 22:10. Canajoharie-Fort Plain's Cora Soodsma (22:38) was seventh and Jessica Hojohn (24:05) was 11th.

SCHENECTADY - The Amsterdam girls took five of the top six places to sweep Schenectady and Troy at Central Park.
The Lady Rams also pushed their league winning streak to 55 straight.
Rebekah Johnson was the top finisher for the Lady Rams (3-0 Big 10), taking second on the 2.6-mile course in a time of 18:18.
Schenectady's Erin MacBeth won the race with a time of 17:25.
Kristina Mathewson (19:56) was third for Amsterdam, Danielle Schroeder (19:58) was fourth, Erin Welch (20:04) was fifth and Victoria Rhodes (20:14) was sixth.
Deborah Johnson (seventh, 20:13), Samantha Rivera (ninth, 21:35) and Ashley Poulin (10th, 21:37) also posted top-10 finished for the Lady Rams.
On the boys' side, Amsterdam managed a split, falling to Schenectady and posting a win against Troy.
Ian Thane led Amsterdam with a second-place finish, posting a time of 15:40.
Schenectady's Joe Comer-Leva won the boys' race with a time of 15:05.
Dan Palmerino (16:10) was fourth for the Rams (3-1 Big 10), Jon Nelson (16:24) was sixth, Nick Bielawa (16:33) was 10th and Brian Watras was 11th.
