With the high probability of rain Friday, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park has opted to switch its racing from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
The Ridge will open its gates at 1 p.m. with hot laps hitting the track at 3:30 and racing starting at 4 p.m.
The card will feature regular sportsman, street stocks, cruisers and rookie sportsman divisions, while the modifieds will be allowed to run sail panels.
Back on track
After the annual break for the Montgomery County Fair, Fonda Speedway re-opens Saturday with a full card of racing.
The post-fair program feature home track rules for all divisions except the pro stocks, which will take to the track for the running of their rained-delayed Best of Three Thunder Series event.
The pits will open at 3 p.m. and the front gates at 4 p.m. and racing starting at 6 p.m.
The speedway also is offering half-price admission for kindergarten through 12th grade students.
Fonda Speedway also is gearing up for its season-ending McDonald's Weekend Sept. 26 and 27. The two-day racing event features a 40-lap $4,000-to-win modified feature Saturday and the McDonald's 100, a 100-lap, $9.500-to-win main for modifieds Sunday.
Saturday's program also features the Empire Super Sprint championship finale, an IMCA tour event, open street stock feature, a 4-cylinder feature and a $1,000-to-win main event for the 602 limted sportsman division. Also on Sunday's race card with the McDonald's 100 is the $1,500-to-win sportsman division feature and the Best-of-Three series. $1,000-to-win pro stock feature. Racing starts at 2 p.m. both days with the front gates opening at noon and the pit gates at 11 a.m.
Free camping is available on the fairgrounds on a first come first serve basis. All campers must check in with the track management.
2009 Fonda Yearbook
The 2009 Fonda Speedway Yearbook will be available at the speedway this weekend and over McDonald's Weekend.
The 76-page book, bargain priced at $4, is packed with action photos, driver photos, and stories published by The Leader-Herald this season.
The publication also is available by contacting The Leader-Herald's main office on Fulton Street in Gloversville.
Karting on the big track
The Northeast Karting Nationals will take to the racing surface at Albany-Saratoga Speedway this weekend.
Pit gates open Friday at 3 p.m. with practice from 6 to 8 p.m. and racing starting approximately at 8:30 p.m.
The gates open at 9 a.m. for Saturday's program with practice from 10 a.m. to noon and a driver meeting at 12:30 and time trials and racing to follow.
Rain dates are set for Saturday and Sunday.
