Joseph J. Ryan, 90, of Whippoorwill Road, Queensbury, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Indian River Nursing Facility, Granville.

Born Sept. 1, 1919, in Laurel Hill, Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Martin F. and Margaret (McGuiness) Ryan.

Joe graduated from Newtown High School, Queens, N.Y., in 1936.

Joe enlisted in the United States Army Air Force on January 6, 1941, serving his country during World War II, being honorably discharged August 25, 1945, and earning the American Defense Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
