William and Marlene Sweet Walker of Gloversville recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows at the Foothills United Methodist Church. The Rev. Cynthia VanAllen, associate pastor, officiated.
Approximately 100 people attended.
The couple married June 14, 1959, at the former First United Methodist Church, Gloversville. There attendants were Louis Rosmarino (deceased) and Judith Brennan Nebrig.
Following the ceremony, their five children hosted a reception in the church's dining room; they are Kirk (Robin) Walker of Peach Tree City, Ga., Mark (Kimberly) Walker of Greenwich, Washington County, Melony (Larry) Bradt of Mayfield, Colleen Hofmann (Michael Gage) of Mayfield and Kristian Walker (Lisa Royal) of Gloversville.
Bill Walker enjoys hunting, fishing and singing. He has been a member of the church choir for about 30 years
Marlene Walker is the president of the United Methodist Women and is also active as a volunteer for the Red Cross. They both are active in the church.
The couple also has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
