Courtney L. Montgomery, 27, of Saratoga Avenue, Broadalbin, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Ellis Hospital.

She was born in Landstuhl, Germany, on August 23, 1982, a daughter of Scott D. and Shelly Benedict Montgomery. Courtney attended Broadalbin-Perth Central High School, Hudson Valley Community College and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

She was employed at one time at the Montgomery County SPCA. Courtney was also a volunteer at the Fulton County SPCA in Broadalbin.

Survivors include her mother, Shelly Montgomery of Broadalbin; her father, Scott Montgomery, and stepmother, Valarie Montgomery of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Jordan E. Montgomery of Broadalbin; her paternal grandmother, Loretta Montgomery of Broadalbin; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Benedict of Gloversville; four nieces, Rio, Ivy, Lily, and Alexa; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 38 West Main Street, Broadalbin, with Rev. Douglas Blanc officiating. Burial will be in the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, in care of the funeral home.
