The Fonda Fair is around the corner and Cornell Cooperative Extension is gearing up for a fun filled week for youth and adults in the Cooperative Extension/ 4-H building.
The Fonda Fair will kick off Sept. 1 and will close Sept. 7.
Throughout the week, fun and educational activities for youth will be held in the building.
New this year will be a theme for each day of the week, including "Health Smart Day," "Up with Youth Day," "Agriculture & Horticulture Day," "Local Foods Day" and "Greener Living Day."
On Sept. 1 and 4 the theme will be "4-H Up With Youth Day." On Sept. 2 at 3 p.m., there will be a 4-H Challenge and at 7:30 p.m. 4-Hers will showcase their talents in the 4-H Youth Talent Expo.
In addition, there will be face painting throughout the week, 4-Hers presenting demonstrations on a variety of topics and much more.
On Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a variety of stations where youth can complete different activities and then try for a chance to open and win something out of the 4-H treasure chest.
In addition on Sept. 4, there will be a 4-H fashion show at 3 p.m. New this year, is the 4-H Scarecrow contest and we're looking for some help from fair visitors to vote for their favorite.
On Sept. 3, youths can participate in vegetable car races at noon, 2:30, 5 and 6 p.m. and on Sept. 6, youths will have the opportunity to build their own piggy banks from 1 to 2 p.m. and make their own pinwheels from 2 to 3 p.m. "Local Foods Day" on Sept. 7 will feature a 4-H Pride of New York State Food Contest at 2:30 p.m.
In addition to the youth events, adults can watch food demonstrations and do a little food tasting on Sept. 2 and Sept. 6 at noon.
In the nutrition area, don't forget to find information on food preservation, body fat analysis and eating better nutritionally.
"Greener Living Day" on Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and throughout the week will feature the grid tied solar energy display.
On Sept. 3 Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions regarding plants and gardening.

Don't forget to visit the 4-H animal shows (dairy, goat, horses, beef, and sheep) throughout the week.
On Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. there also will be a 4-H pet show followed by dog obedience and dog agility competitions.
