Area riders claim Royal wins

Dutcher, Blowers, Kollar register first-place finishes

CAROGA LAKE -Three area riders claimed overall wins Wednesday during Monster Supercross action at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Gloversville's Jesse Dutcher, Fonda's Clayton Blowers and Fort Plain's Zackery Kollar all won their respective classes.

Dutcher finished first in the quad amateur class, Blowers was first in the plus-30 expert class and Kollar was first in the mini 80 9- to 11-year-old class.

Kollar also placed third in the 80 plus 10- to 16-year-old class.

Three riders claimed a pair of wins Wednesday.

Montgomery's Jay Weller, Little Falls' Cole Fredericks and Konnor Buffis of Pittsfield, Mass. each posted two overall wins.

Weller was first in the 122-open expert and 122-250cc expert classes, Fredericks won the 85cc 12- to 15-year-old and 80 plus 10- to 16-year-old classes, and Buffis was first in the 122-250cc amateur and 122-open amateur classes.

Other winners included Corinth's Tim Randall (quad expert), Corinth's Luke Petteys (quad novice), Cicero's Rico Lucio (50cc junior stock 4-6), Edmeston's Brad Williams (50cc senior stock 7-8), Saranac's Jerry Filion (mini 60), Schenectady's John Grassia (122-250cc novice), Ballston Lake's Mike Barnum (plus-30 amateur) and Ravena's Ben Scarcella (122-open novice).

Several local riders were part of the 194-rider field and posted strong showings.

In the 122-open expert class, Mayfield's B.J. Smith was second, Gloversville's Joshua Wilson was third and Gloversville's Michael Hart was fifth.

In the 122-250cc expert class, Smith was third, Burton Wilson was fourth and Gloversville's Adam Handy was fifth.

Canajoharie's James Stowell was second in the quad expert class and Gloversville's David Palmatier was fifth in the quad amateur class.

In the 50cc senior stock 7- to 8-year-old class, Fonda's Tyler Blowers was third and Gloversville's Brandon Handy was fourth.

Northville's Daniel Ashcroft was fourth in the 85cc 12- to 15-year-old class and fourth in the 80-plus 10- to 16-year-old class.

In the 122-250cc amateur class, Gloversville's Cameron Eutermarks was second and St. Johnsville's Andrew Duesler was fourth.

Johnstown's Joey Morrison was fifth in the 122-open amateur class, Gloversville's Thomas Perham was fifth in the 85cc 12- to 15-year-old class and Pattersonville's Kim Kiefner was fourth in the plus-30 amateur class.

Royal Mountain will be back in action next Wednesday before hosting a two-day event Aug. 1 and 2.

On Aug. 1, Royal will host a supercross event at 5 p.m. and on Aug. 2, the facility will host its final motocross event of the season beginning at 8:30 a.m.
