JOHNSTOWN - Three people were hurt in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday night, and one of the drivers was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Fulton County sheriff's deputies said the crash occurred at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday on Route 309 at West State Street Extension.

Deputies said Brian R. Keller, 22, of Box 337, Palatine Bridge, was charged with failure to stop at a sign, DWI and an overtaking violation.

Keller suffered an internal chest injury, and his passenger - Heather Keba, 20 - suffered severe bleeding to her head and was in shock, according to the report.

Another driver - John H. Gerdes, 37, of 862 County Highway 122, Gloversville - complained of a shoulder-upper arm injury.

All three were taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.

Deputies said Keller and pickup truck driver Charles J. Leitch Jr., 62, of 8 Cutter Drive, Johnstown, were both headed west on West State Street Extension and the Gerdes pickup was heading north on Route 309. Deputies said Keller entered into the path of the Gerdes pickup. After impact, the Gerdes truck continued northbound, striking the Leitch truck, deputies said.
