Canal Days set for weekend
FORT HUNTER - Canal Days will be celebrated this weekend at the Schoharie Crossing historic site and the Fort Hunter Fire Department.
The 25th annual celebration will take place Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Schoharie Crossing.
The free community event will include live entertainment sponsored by the Friends of Schoharie Crossing. Bill McGrath as the Legendary Elvis will perform through Saturday and the County Line Rebels will perform between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Friends of Schoharie Crossing will sponsor a chicken barbecue Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
On Saturday, educational displays will be set up.
Jinx the clown will appear Saturday and Sunday in the carnival game area. A silent auction will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days at the visitor center.
The Fort Hunter Fire Department will sponsor canal days from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday to benefit the Fire Department.
Friday will be firefighters night to honor county volunteers. Many fire trucks and other fire products will be there.
On Saturday, there will be fireworks at dusk.
On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a car show. All hot rods, antiques, classics, muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles are invited.
