Marilyn J. Ryan (Albrecht) passed away peacefully Thursday, July 2, 2009, after a long illness. She was 70. Born and raised in Johnstown and a resident of Clifton Park for the past 30 years, she was predeceased by parents, Doris and Arthur Albrecht; and son, Donald Albertin.
Marilyn was diabetic for 65 years. She was one of the first test patients for Insulin as a treatment for the disease. An accomplished pianist and organist, she played services for many area churches throughout the years. She also taught music privately and her music will live on through her many students.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Charles Ryan of Clifton Park; daughter, Sandi Ellithorpe (Dana), and grandchildren, Matthew Streifert and Dorothy Ellithorpe, all of Albany, NY.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 4 6 PM, followed by services at 6 PM at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marilyn J. Ryan Music Award to be given to a music student at The Albany Academies.
