Climate-change bill bad for America

POSTED: July 3, 2009

We are an agriculture district, and farmers would be hardest hit by the climate-change bill recently passed by the House of Representatives.

U.S. Rep. John McHugh is supposed to represent us, not the big-city Democrats and Wall Street big-wigs who stand to gain from this bill.I really think your paper should take a stand against this horrible bill instead of being so basically blah about the whole thing.

Believe me, if this goes through the Senate the same way it did the House, every local citizen will feel the pinch. Even those on welfare will pay this tax in their food bills. This is all to support the global warming hoax, which is being perpetrated on the American people.

Do you remember the Cardif Giant? He was a hoax, too. He now resides in Cooperstown, which is not too far from here. And then there was alar and bomb shelters and other kinds of hoopla. Some people get rich (Al Gore for instance) and others get poorer (you and I).

Our president's whole energy policy is wrong for our country. We should be drilling and refining our own oil and building nuclear plants. It is OK for Korea to build them, but not us.

No one read this bill. It wasn't even printed before it was voted on. I hear there may be an investigation of the vote. I certainly hope so.

I was looking for McHugh's excuse for voting for this abomination. I know the reason: politics as usual. He was given the promise of a plush job in exchange for his vote (my opinion, of course). This should be obvious to all upstate voters. When do we get the chance to vote for his replacement since we no longer have representation? He should step down at once so we can elect someone who will represent us.
