NORTHVILLE - A village man was arrested Tuesday by state police, who say he intended to sell more than $4,000 worth of illegal fireworks.

Police said Roger Barnoski, 66, was arrested by Mayfield-based state police after they received a tip that a man was selling fireworks from a trailer on Barnoski's River Road property.

After they arrived at Barnoski's home and confronted him about the complaint, police said Barnoski admitted to having more than 100 cartons of the illegal fireworks, all of which were intended for resale.

The Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Web site lists Barnoski as the owner of North Star Auto in Northville.

He was charged with unlawfully dealing with fireworks and dangerous fireworks, a misdemeanor, and issued an appearance ticket. He is to appear July 9 in Northampton Town Court.

Troopers said the New York State Police Bomb Deposal Unit removed the fireworks from the scene and will destroy them.
