MAYFIELD - Like finely-tuned racing engine, the way a race team is put together can mean the difference between just running and having the power to be successful.

The components of the Delaney Infrastructure/CarDaddy.com race team are coming together and the team is moving up the ladder in competition on the NASCAR Camping World Series East.

Local businessman and team owner Tim Delaney of Mayfield has brought together a mix of experienced and young talent to the garage and pits.

Former Busch North driver Jamie Aube guides the team as crew chief. Aube raced his way to three straight Busch North series championships in 1988, '89 and '90. Aube's switch from being a driver to the top of the pit box has helped bring along young West Coast talents, Andrew Myers and Laine Chase before he signed on with the Delaney team.

In the shop, Henry Ross and Cole Aery help keep the stable of cars race-ready.

Ross, of Mayfield, as been associated with the Delaney team since running slingshots, DIRT modifieds and sportsman. As a mechanic in the shop and tire changer at the track, Ross' talents cover a broad range of jobs with the team.

Aery, from Greenville, Maine, has been around racing all his life and graduated in 2006 from NASCAR Training Institute in North Carolina. Aery worked on an ARCA team that Dustin Delaney drove two races for and made the move to Mayfield when the team decided to enter the Camping World Series full-time in 2008.

At the track, the team is joined by several people bringing their talents to the team.

Former driver and crew chief Tom Carey, Jr. has come on board as car chief. Carey was the runner-up Rookie of the Year on the NASCAR Busch North series in 1997 and finished fifth in the points in the Series in 1999, when he won six poles.

Ron Ste-Marie, known to his colleagues as Spot, brings the experience of working with the Buzz Chew team that put Bryon Chew in Victory Lane. When the Delaney team wanted to get its start, Ste. Marie and the Chew team were instrumental in introducing them to the entry-level division.

David Labbe is instrumental in keeping the wheels turning on the car. Behind the pit wall, Labbe monitors the pressures, and prepares the tires for race day along with a variety of race-day duties. Labbe also is the jackman on the over-the-wall gang.

On race day and during the week, friends and supporters often step in to lend a hand, doing whatever it takes to keep the team's progress heading toward the front.
