Mr. Marvin R. Smith Sr. "Pal", 65, of Bliss Rd., St. Johnsville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. He was born on March 26, 1944 in Little Falls, son of the late Arnold and Bessie (Canfield) Smith. Marvin was a lifelong resident of the Oppenheim area. He loved flowers, gardening, riding his four wheeler, working with wood and going to garage sales. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Ashley. Survivors include his longtime companion, Donna Christman; his daughter, Betty Lee Carroll and her husband Terry of Amsterdam; his son, Marvin Jr and his wife Tara of St. Johnsville; his brothers, Henry A. Smith and his wife Georgianna and Ralph Smith and his wife Connie; his sister, Evelyn Miles and her husband Thomas; his granddaughter, Ashley Sanford and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald, Richard and Arnold Jr., and his sisters, Vivian and Bessie. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., Saint Johnsville, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2009.
