Johnstown man pleads guilty

JOHNSTOWN - A city man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Fulton County Court to felony second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

James P. Eagan, 46, of 130 E. Clinton St., entered his guilty plea before Judge Richard C. Giardino in connection with the defendant's Feb. 11 arrest in the town of Johnstown. Details on the case were unavailable.

Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but Eagan is expected to receive two to four years in state prison as a second felony offender.

Giardino said the sentence will run concurrently with a previous three- to six-year state prison sentence Eagan received in City Court. That case stems from Eagan's May 10 arrest in the city.

Police said Eagan broke into car dealership Eagle Chevrolet at 108 S. Comrie Ave. and stole cash and checks. He was originally charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.

He later pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary.
