Greco announces bid for re-election

POSTED: June 18, 2009

AMSTERDAM - First Ward Supervisor Vito Greco, a Republican, announced Wednesday he will seek re-election to a third term on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.

In 2008, he served as the board chairman.

During the past year, Greco said he and the rest of the county supervisors approved a sales tax agreement, giving the city of Amsterdam an 8 percent increase in revenue, which amounted to more than $500,000. As chairman in 2008, he said he was instrumental in resurrecting the shared service/intergovernmental committee and making the county demolition team a reality.

Greco is a lifelong resident of the city's 1st Ward.

"If re-elected, I will remain dedicated to the goals I have set in my last two terms, by maintaining financial stability and reducing taxes without eliminating services," Greco said. "I also will continue to make informed decisions and handle my position in a business-like manner that I believe is best for the people of Amsterdam."
