BURNT HILLS - The Caroga Lake 16-and-younger team captured the title in a Junior Olympic tourney at Burnt Hills on April 26.

The local spikers won all eight round robin sets to advance to the semifinals where they defeated Pine Bush of Orange County in two sets. In a hard-fought final match, Caroga Lake split the first two sets with a stong Baldwinsvillle Blast team from the Syracuse area. In the back-and forth final set, Caroga Lake prevailed 15-13 to take the honors in the ten-team tourney.

Members of the Caroga Lake 16s were Bridget Shoop and Abbie Martin of Broadalbin-Perth, Christie Showers and Kacie Edwards of Mayfield, Kassandra Buseck of Johnstown, Coley MacGregor of Caroga Lake, Lora Allen of Dolgeville and Sarah Dewey of Cooperstown.

Next up for Caroga Lake 16s and 15s is May 2 and 3 at Horseheads with the 13s, 14s 17s and 18s ending the season at Horseheads May 9 and 10.
