Donald E. Baurle, age 72, passed away April 25, 2009, at the Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Don was born in Gloversville, New York, on July 31, 1936, the son of the late Francis J. and Ethel Mae (Walker) Baurle. He graduated from Gloversville High School.
On August 26, 1960, he married Judy Chadwick in the Christ Church United Methodist Church of Glens Falls.
He retired from the SCA Tissue Company in 2004 after working for over 38 years in the shipping department.
Don loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Salmon Pond Hunting Club for many years. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2486 in South Glens Falls and a former Cub Master for Cub Scout Pack 9 in South Glens Falls. He was also an avid fan of John Wayne and owned nearly every film the Duke ever made.
Don served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1963 and served overseas in Germany, near Nuremberg. He was stationed stateside in both Texas and Fort Lee, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by: his sister, Donna Wyllie; his brothers, Francis Jr. (Bill), Emmett, Gardner and Lloyd Baurle; and two of his grandchildren, Joshua and Leighann Baurle.
In addition to his wife of more than 48 years, Don is survived by: his children, Donald Baurle Jr. and his companion, Amanda Sheerer, of Fort Edward and her daughter, Briana Hermance, Joseph Baurle and his wife Noreen of Mosheim, Tennessee, Thomas and his wife, Tanya, of Parrish, Florida, and Laura Goode and her husband, William, of South Glens Falls; his brother, Allen (Butch) Baurle and his wife, Darlene, of Sebastian, Florida; his grandchildren, Eric, Danielle, Lisa and Jacob Baurle of Hudson Falls, Jonathan Baurle of Fort Edward, and Shayna Baurle of Glens Falls.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, April 30, 2009, between 5 and 7 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, New York.
A memorial service with Regina Haag of Adirondack Friends Meeting officiating will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Road in Schuylerville, New York, at 1:30 p.m.
