Trudy Ramsey, the mother of a former Gloversville resident, celebrated her 100th birthday at the Tiffany Room of the Esperance Sloansville United Methodist Church, Schoharie County. She was born April 24, 1909, and resides at the Oak Ridge Adult Home in Esperance. She retired as a key punch operator for the New York state government in the late 1960s. She has a daughter and spouse, Novilla and Robert Shepard, who still resides at the old family home in Esperance. She also has a son and spouse, Woody and Jo Ann Ramsey of Port St. Lucie, Fla., who formerly resided in Gloversville, where they raised their children and both were teachers in the Gloversville Enlarged School District; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Trudy Ramsey has always enjoyed gardening and chocolate. She said she remembers watching passenger trains taking the "doughboys" off to World War I from the hay mow of her father's barn when she was 9 years old. She continues to read daily without use of eyeglasses.
