Mrs. Sarah Carbonelli, 81, of Gloversville, died Thursday at her residence following a brief illness. Born September 3, 1927 in Ozark Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Hoarce and Willie Mae Parrish. Sarah was raised by her loving stepmother, "Mallie". She was educated and graduated high school in Alabama, moving to Gloversville in 1949. Mrs. Carbonelli was married November 9, 1947 to John R. Carbonelli who predeceased her in 1999.
Sarah was employed as a bookkeeper for Ultimate Leather, retiring in 1999
A loving and devoted family person, Sarah enjoyed cooking, reading and was an expert seamstress. The simple life was always important to her, and sharing time with family, especially grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah (Paul) Burgess of Caroga Lake and Bobbie (George) Bailey of Gloversville. She is also survived by three sisters, Eva Harrell, Diane Baxley and Jeanette Johnson, all of Alabama; and a brother, Billie Parrish of Lakeland, Fla.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Teri Hinkle, Michael Denmark, Jodi Bown, Stacy Schneider, Susan Whitman and Kimberly Green; three stepgranddaughters; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Carbonelli was predeceased by three brothers. James, Gerald and Lomax Parrish.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt.
