Robert and Ruth Spawn, formerly of 5 E. First Ave., Johnstown, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a gathering of friends and family at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home where both are residents.
Cake and ice cream were served to approximately 50 guests and entertainment was provided.
The couple married March 18, 1939 at the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Johnstown.

The Rev. Wilmer Zuehlke officiated. There attendants were Kay Goodrich, sister of the bride, and Douglas Spawn, brother of the bridegroom.
Their wedding trip took place in New York city.
They have four children, Wendy Spring and Pamela Lowell of Johnstown, Marjorie Herman of Saratoga and Roberta Frost of Ithaca; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
