John Moore (Fonda-Fultonville) ran the third leg of the University at Albany men's indoor track team's 3,200-meter relay team, finishing with a split of 1:49.03.
The team finished with a time of 7:24.94, which broke the school record by more than 10 seconds and the second-place finish kept the Great Danes a point ahead of the University of Connecticut for the IC4A championship.
Moore also finished second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:25.69.
Bela Vonnak (Canajoharie) scored 23 points, leading the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to an 81-69 over Brooklyn College in the NCAA Division III first round.
He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
The Saints defeated the State University of New York Institute of Technology in the second round and will play Richard Stockton College Friday in the Sweet 16.
Kristin Mraz (Johnstown) finished her third season on the Bryant University women's basketball team and her first at the NCAA Division I level with three assists in the Bulldogs' season-ending loss to Mount St. Mary's.
Mraz finished the season with 176 points, an average of 6.5 points per game. She also dished out a team-high 67 assists and grabbed 26 steals. She also had 72 total rebounds.
Brittany Stahura (Amsterdam) finished her freshman season with 39 total points and 44 rebounds. She appeared in 17 games and started four.
The Bulldogs finished 11-18 overall.
Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam) scored seven points as the Skidmore College women's basketball team saw its season end with a 61-51 loss to Union College.
Gaugler finished the season with 239 points, third on the team, an average of 9.2 per game. She also had 87 rebounds and 27 assists.
Katie Finch (Broadalbin-Perth) is picking up right where she left off last season for the SUNY Cortland softball team.
She threw a two-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts as the Red Dragons blanked Simmons College 2-0 in Florida.
Cortland was ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Division III poll.
Tom McDermott (Amsterdam) has made four appearances, all in relief. for the LeMoyne baseball team.
He has pitched 7 innings for the Dolphins with a 1-0 record and a 3.68 ERA.
He has struck out eight batters and walked seven and has limited opponents to a .192 batting average so far.
Adam Cutspec (Fort Plain) was hit by a pitch and scored a run for the UAlbany baseball team in a loss to Creighton to close out the Coastal Carolina Caravelle Resort tournament.
Cutspec has appeared in four games for the Great Danes with three starts with a .200 batting average in 10 at-bats. He has a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.
