Campus Clippings: Parillo helps Tigers to win

A 3-pointer by Gina Parillo (Amsterdam) brought the State University of New York at Cobleskill women's basketball team to within a point and she followed that up with a jump shot giving the Fighting Tigers a 62-59 win over Penn State-Harrisburg Sunday.

Parillo finished with eight points.

Heidi Anderson (Canajoharie) came off the bench to score 10 points and grab five rebounds for Cobleskill.

The Fighting Tigers have won 18 straight games.

Steve Hall (Johnstown) won the 200-yard individual medley for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men's swimming and diving team, but the Engineers fell 123-118 to Hamilton College.

Hall also finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.78.

Hall swam the third leg of the Engineers' winning 400-yard medley relay team, which finished with a time of 3:41.62.

Erik Whiting (Fonda-Fultonville) placed second in the men's weight throw at the Liberty League championships for the RPI men's indoor track team.

His throw reached 14.22 meters as the Engineers won the overall Liberty League championship with 190 points.

Bryan Yurkewecz (Fonda-Fultonville) won the mile run for the University at Albany indoor track and field team at the Binghamton Triangular meet.

He finished with a time of 4:19.01 as the Great Danes finished second behind the Bearcats with 242 points, but in front of Syracuse.

Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam) scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Skidmore College women's basketball team's 74-62 loss to RPI Saturday.

Gaugler scored nine points for the Thoroughbreds in Friday's 79-51 win over Vassar College.

She averages 10.1 points per game and has appeared in 23 games with 22 starts. Her 200 points are good for third on the team and she has grabbed 74 rebounds and 26 assists.

Kristin Mraz (Johnstown) scored five points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out an assist, helping the Bryant University women's basketball team to a 71-53 win over Wagner.

Brittany Stahura (Amsterdam) also appeared in the game, scoring two points with three rebounds, an assist and a block.

Mraz scored nine points in the Bulldogs' 67-49 loss to Monmouth Feb. 9.

Leah Pepe (Amsterdam) scored three points, grabbed four rebounds, had two assists and a steal as the reserves led the Union College women's basketball team's 87-49 win over Vassar College Saturday.

Pepe has appeared in 22 games for the Dutchwomen with one start. She averages 12.1 minutes per game and has 66 total points. She has grabbed 52 rebounds, handed out 29 assists, blocked one shot and grabbed nine steals.
