Police: Woman falsely reported rape

POSTED: February 4, 2009

AMSTERDAM - A Hagaman woman has been charged with falsely reporting an incident after city police said she lied about being raped.

Stacey L. Posluszny, 24, of 134 County Highway 132, was charged Friday.

Officers said they went to St. Mary's to investigate a report of a female who was being treated for an alleged sexual assault.

Posluszny told officers that after leaving a local bar, she was entering her vehicle when a masked man walked up behind her, pushed her inside the vehicle and sexually assaulted her.

After reviewing surveillance video of the parking lot Posluszny said the incident occurred in, officers found out the incident never happened.

Once police informed Posluszny the tape showed no sexual assault, she confessed she made up the attack, police said.

Officers said they do not know why she made up the incident.

She was given a ticket to appear in City Court on a later date.
