Elizabeth Brunetto Vrooman Mezzano, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at her home in Wilmington, N.C., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Albany, N.Y., on April 4, 1935, the only daughter of the late Cleto J. and Agatha M. Cali Brunetto.
Elizabeth was a 1952 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended SUNY Plattsburgh. She was previously employed by the former New York Tel which became GTE. She was a homemaker who raised her family in Johnstown. She was of the Roman Catholic faith, a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wilmington and was a communicant and former member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Johnstown. Elizabeth loved to do daily crossword puzzles, and to play Scrabble and cards. She enjoyed her home, family, her beloved Pekingese pup Shelby and her friends. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Her loving family of survivors includes: her husband, Emmanuel Mezzano, whom she married on June 20, 2003; one daughter, Lisa Clea Weiderman and her husband, Warren, of Broadalbin, N.Y.; and one son, Lawrence W. Vrooman and his wife, Debra, of Johnstown, N.Y. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Brynn Elizabeth Weiderman of Gloversville; Brent Weiderman of Broadalbin; Jasmine Elizabeth and Cameron Vrooman, both of Johnstown; one great-grandson, Dillon Christopher Stevens of Gloversville and several cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, a date and time to be announced by the Ehle Funeral Home.
