Campus Clippings: Hall helps RPI win league meet

Steven Hall (Johnstown) won the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke, helping the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men's swimming and diving team to a first-place finish at the Liberty League championship meet.

RPI finished with 839 points.

Hall finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.24 and the 200 with a time of 2:15.53.

Hall was ninth in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:36.12 and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.36.

Hall was part of RPI's third-place 400-yard medley relay, which finished with a time of 3:38.57.

He also was on the fifth-place 200-yard medley relay team, which finished with a time of 1:41.41.

Several Amsterdam girls' basketball alumni suited up against each other when Hartwick traveled to Skidmore College Dec. 2.

Katie Caddell (Amsterdam) scored 14 points as the Hawks put four players in double figures in an 81-66 victory. Krystle Crouse (Canajoharie) added six points for Hartwick.

Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam) scored nine points for Skidmore.

Jordyn Kline (Amsterdam) finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in the Binghamton University women's swim team's 185-114 loss to Cornell.

She also was on the fourth-place 400-yard freestyle B team for the Bearcats, which finished in 3:51.21.

Kristen Stein (Gloversville) was 13th in the 500-yard dash with a time 1:22.53 for the Oneonta State women's indoor track and field team at the Cornell Relays Saturday.

She also finished 31st in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.63 seconds.

Dino Johnson (Amsterdam) scored 18 points helping the Mt. St. Vincent men's basketball team to a 107-88 win over Mt. St. Mary College Saturday.

Johnson hit a pair of free throws with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game to give the Dolphins a game-high 29 points. He has appeared in seven games with one start and is averaging about 14 points per game.

Ashleigh Scott (Fonda-Fultonville) finished fourth in the 3,200-meter run for the University of New Haven women's indoor track team with a time of 6:14.67 at Yale University.

Harley Fuller (Broadalbin-Perth) made his way back to New York Saturday with the Florida International University men's basketball team.

He didn't score any points, but he had three rebounds and two assists in the Panthers' 70-56 loss to the University at Buffalo.

Olivia McMullen (Broadalbin-Perth) scored six points in nine minutes helping the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to a 72-50 win over Johnson State College.

Note: The fall semester will be wrapping up shortly for many colleges.

Therefore Campus Clippings will take a break for the several weeks during the winter break. It will return in mid-January.
