Sex abuse and burglary cases heard in court

FONDA -An Amsterdam man was indicted in Montgomery County Court on eight counts of second-degree rape and eight counts of second-degree criminal sexual act for allegedly sexually abusing a person less than 15 according to a spokeswoman for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

Kevin Richards, 23, of 9 Hamilton St. was indicted Thursday for the incidents that occurred in the city between April 24 and June 11.

He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.

Also in Montgomery County Court:

Jorge Andino, 28, of 72 Lincoln Ave. was sentenced Monday to six months in Montgomery County Jail, five years probation and payment of a $155 surcharge for a December 1999 incident in the city.

After they gave her alcohol, Andino and another man had sexual contact with a female who was younger than 17 but older than 14 .

Raphael Camacho, 45, of 62 Edward St. in Amsterdam was sentenced to two years in state prison, 10 years post-release supervision and a $270 surcharge on Monday in connection with a December 2007 incident.

He pleaded guilty in late September to first-degree sexual abuse.

Camacho was indicted July 31 and charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree sexual conduct. The incidents took place from fall 2006 to December 2007, authorities said.

George F. Goss, 48, of 27 Garden St., Amsterdam was sentenced to two concurrent state prison terms for two unrelated break-ins on Monday.

He was sentenced to 15 years in state prison, five years post-release supervision and a $270 surcharge for breaking into a residence in the city May 13 and stealing items from it. He pleaded guilty in September to second-degree burglary.

He was additionally sentenced to two to four years in state prison, must pay $250 restitution and a $270 surcharge for a Nov. 11, 2007 break-in in the city.

The second prison term will be served concurrent to the first.

Luis Rodriguez of 25 McElwain Ave. was sentenced on Monday to five years probation requiring Drug Court, restitution of $80 and a $270 surcharge.

Rodriguez was found to be in possession of cocaine in the city Jan. 18. He pleaded guilty to fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance on June 2.

Andrew S. Berg, 43, of 201 McClellan St., Schenectady was charged with third-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Thursday for his alleged theft of a car from a location in the city on Aug. 1.

He is expected to be arraigned on a later date.

Joseph P. Miller, 26, of 415 Barker Road in Fonda was charged Thursday with third-degree grand larceny and 18 counts of first-degree falsifying business records in connection with incidents that happened between April 23 and Aug. 26, 2007 in the town of Mohawk.

He is accused to taking unemployment benefits he was not entitled to.

He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
