GLEN - A Montgomery County Jail inmate bit a county correctional officer in the hand while the inmate was being taken to St. Mary's Hospital after fighting with another jail inmate, authorities said.
Sheriff Michael J. Amato said inmate Jorge A. Rivera, 34, of 234 E. Main St., Amsterdam, on Saturday became violent and bit the officer, who was treated at St. Mary's Hospital and released.
Rivera, who was checked out at St. Mary's after his fight with another inmate, was arrested Thursday and charged with one felony count of second-degree assault.
He was arraigned before Town Justice James Brookman and sent to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond.
