Ron and Shirley Preston of Johnstown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 20, at the Johnstown Holiday Inn with about 50 family members in attendance.
The party was given by their children, Larry Preston and his wife Carol of Johnstown and their daughter, Linda P. Van Slyke of Johnstown, assisted by Matthew and Lisa Van Slyke of Johnstown.
The couple married Sept. 11, 1948 at the Johnstown First Baptist Church. The Rev. Harlow W. Parson, pastor, officiated. The maid of honor was Carmelia "Lil" Fugazzotto and the best man was Merton Preston.

A slide show of events in their lives over the past 60 years was shown and music from the 1940s and 1950s was provided.
Ron Preston retired after 40 years as manager of the A & P stores and he also was a supervisor for Cumberland Farms.
Shirley Preston retired after 30 years in various departments from the First American Bank.
They have five grandsons, Brett, Grant, and Christopher Preston, all of Johnstown; Matthew and Nathan Van Slyke, both of Johnstown; five great-grandchildren, Abby, Jack, Julia, Hailey and Cole Preston, all of Johnstown.
