Dolgeville man faces rape charge

DOLGEVILLE - A village man was arrested Thursday on charges he had sex with an underage girl, according to Montgomery County sheriff's deputies.

In a news release, Sheriff Michael J. Amato said Shane R. Reid, 23, of 335 King Road, was charged with third-degree rape, a felony.

Officers said between June and September, Reid had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old female in Palatine Bridge.

Reid was arraigned in front of Palatine Town Court Justice Ronald Dygert and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $10,000 property bond.

Reid was on probation from Fulton County and is registered as a level one, or "low risk," sex offender, authorities said.

Sheriff's Investigator Bill Gilston Jr. handled the investigation and made the arrest.

The case has been turned over to Montgomery County District Attorney James "Jed" Conboy.
