Woman indicted for role in crash

An Amsterdam woman who police say threw a beer can at a motorcyclist who then crashed and died was indicted Thursday in Montgomery County Court.
Georgeanna M. Crisalli, 57, of 46 Union St., was indicted on one count of first-degree reckless endangerment, Montgomery County District Attorney James "Jed" Conboy said this morning.
Conboy, who declined to comment on the case, said the indictment carries a potential state prison term of 2 1/3 to seven years.
Crisalli was indicted in connection with her April arrest, which followed several weeks of investigation into the death of David Rivera, 50, of Fort Hunter. Rivera died April 8 when his speeding motorcycle collided with a vehicle at the corner of Union Street and Glen Avenue.
The Amsterdam Police Department arrested Crisalli about two weeks later. At that time, Detective Lt. Thomas DiMezza said speed was the main factor in the accident, but said the beer can Crisalli allegedly threw may have distracted Rivera, contributing to his losing control of his motorcycle.
"Witnesses saw [Rivera] turn his head when [Crisalli] threw the can. When he turned back, that's when the motorcycle began to wobble," DiMezza said in April.
Police said after his motorcycle began to wobble, Rivera intentionally lay his motorcycle on the ground in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid colliding with the car.
DiMezza said Crisalli threw the beer can at Rivera because she was upset by motorcyclists who travel at high speeds down the street.
DiMezza declined further comment on the case this morning.
The driver of the vehicle Rivera collided with was neither injured nor ticketed in the crash.
Crisalli is scheduled to be arraigned before Montgomery County Judge Felix Catena at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

abbadon, I've been told that she has priors and that she is a troublemaker. I was very surprised that all she was charged with is reckless endangerment when in fact, she purposely threw the can to cause harm. I guess some people can get away with murder.

only half of my response was placed but i know criscali she is one of the biggest trash here in amsterdam i personally once was responsible twice from removing her from two neighborhoods where she caused problems everyday it is wrong that it took her murdering someone before something is being done i say she deserves life in prison a life for a life i know there are alot of speeders here in this city but throwing things at them is not the way call the police get the plate numbers pursue the problem that way these thingsv do not happen keep thev trash off the streets

i think the woman had no right to throw a beer can at anyone, unless her life was in immediate danger. She was playing cop, a much stiffer sentence is needed, more more than 2 1/3 years.

Those are the kind of details one can argue about until the end of time. THAT'S why I want to sit for a day in the court...to hear the expert witnesses etc. I think what bothers me most is her grinning about it.
