Alleged killer no stranger to police
By RODNEY MINOR, The Leader-HeraldGLOVERSVILLE - City police said the man accused of murder on the FJ & G Rail Trail earlier this month has been arrested nine times since 2001.
Police Capt. Jim Lorenzoni said 26-year-old city resident Randy L. Green was arrested on a number of charges in that eight-year span - disorderly conduct (three times), second-degree assault, criminal mischief, second-degree harassment and violating parole.
Green was arrested Aug. 15 and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Raymond W. Pike, 63.
Police found Pike's body earlier in the day on the Rail Trail near Foster Street, dead from multiple stab wounds.
Lorenzoni said this morning the autopsy on Pike's body lists the manner of death as a homicide. The autopsy concluded the immediate cause of death was severe hemorrhaging due to perforations of the heart, lungs and kidneys from multiple stab wounds, he said.
The results of the toxicology tests have not arrived at the Police Department, Lorenzoni said.
Police said Pike and Green had been drinking and arguing before they ventured onto the Rail Trail from Pike's Bleecker Street apartment, headed toward Price Chopper on North Main Street.
While walking on the trail, the two began arguing again.
Lorenzoni said the motive for the murder still is under investigation.
Police said Green, after implicating his involvement in Pike's death, claimed part of the argument was over an alleged stash of child pornography Pike had.
Pike, a registered sex offender, was arrested by Johnstown Police in 1990 and later convicted of second-degree sodomy. He was sentenced to serve two to six years in state prison for the crime, which involved a 13-year-old male victim.
While police have seized materials from Pike's apartment to verify or refute Green's claim, Lorenzoni said police at this time have not determined if the material is child pornography.
Pike also had his run-ins with city police since 2001, being arrested four times. Pike was charged with petit larceny, trespassing, and was arrested twice for failing to notify police when he changed his address, Lorenzoni said.
Lorenzoni said the criminal records Green and Pike have is not uncommon compared to other people the police deal with.
"It is not out of the norm for us," he said.
Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira said while Pike and Green knew each other, the full-extent of their relationship has not been determined. Sira said investigators do not believe the two had been friends for a long period of time.
Lorenzoni said police do not know how long the two had been friends, but it was not a life-long friendship.

Well the truth is coming out about Pike. He was not as lily white as his family wanted us to believe. He had been arrested 4 times since 2001. Does not smack of someone who learned their lesson from serving 6 years.... the worst is 2 times were for not giving change of address. All registered sex offenders KNOW that they have to notify change of address well before their sorry butt leaves prison. Ahhhhhh the toxicology report is not back so his daughter was lying. Figured as much because a death report states the manner of death it does not contain information from the toxicology report.

Ohhh that's shocking news that he was well known by law enforcement. Gee both were well known by police... I can't believe that...roflmao We need to raise money to support Gloversville so why don't we charge people that have to have the police at their door every day? Same clowns in bar room fights, that the police get called has to pay the fee. A Fee for every officer that was needed on the call. Extra if Johnstown PD, Sheriff or State troopers assist! Can't afford it? then work it off in prison making license plate.

It was only a matter of time until Randy Green committed murder. After a long history, he should be locked up for long, long time. He has no place in society. I don't understand why the articles keep bringing up Mr. Pike's past. He was murdered, end of story. He is the victim. Are all these past performances supposed to make people think that his murder was justified. I think the media should concentrate on the murder of a man and the man who did it.

Seems like this article is just another version of the same story that has been printed over and over again since this whole thing started. And RizziBear I have to agree with you on this one seems like you got this one right. And to Bleu6Demon there is a difference he had a criminal past which seems like kept him going down the wrong path which plays a roll in this whole thing. And a young kids life was forever scarred because of his actions in 1990!

It doesn't surprise me that Green didn't have a clean record... infact I figured as much. Very sad situation no matter how you look at it, especially for the family of the victim. It should be dropped though... there has been too many negative opinions/comments in regards to this story, the family are the ones suffering . Mr. Pike is gone.. let him/family rest in peace.

So what's new here: They were drinking. The toxicology reports aren't out yet so Pike girls claim that Raybo wasn't drunk was probably hogwash. Randy was a two bit criminal well known to the cops. So was Raybo. And two bit criminals aren't unusual for Gloversville. That's brilliant. The cops can't tell if they have kiddy p*on from Pikes apartment. (guess they need an expert to figure what kiddy p*rn looks like. The autopsy report forgot the part about Raybo's throat being slit from ear to ear as a cause of death. And finally, while they knew each other (birds of a feather) it wasn't for a long time. So, I guess that means Green wasn't a childhood victim of Raybo. Stay tuned...this can only get weirder.
