Plane crashes in Johnstown

July 6, 2008
By RODNEY MINOR, The Leader-Herald

JOHNSTOWN - A single-engine plane crashed at the Fulton County Airport Saturday afternoon.

Hilton L. Tallman, of Middle Grove, was flying the 1947 Cessna plane that ended up on its top near the side of the runway.

Fulton County Sheriff Tom Lorey said Tallman was trying to land his plane, but had the nose of the plane down too far. When it hit the pavement of the runway, the plane flipped over, he said.

Tallman, the only person in the plane, sustained minor injuries, Lorey said.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Department, the Berkshire Fire Department and the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps were among the agencies at the scene Saturday.
