POSTED: May 17, 2008
ST. JOHNSVILLE — According to a news release, the St. Johnsville Central School District will use funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help correct an erosion problem in a detention basin northeast of the junior/senior high school. Further work could be addressed as part of a capital project requiring voter approval.
Using FEMA funding, phase one of the project includes repair of erosion damage caused by flooding in 2006. This work includes repair of eroded portions of the detention basin bank, repair of a damaged section of pipe and possible removal of silt within the 48 inch culvert pipe, according to the release. This phase is expected to be completed by the end of June. Dibble Construction of River Road, Fort Plain, has been awarded the bid for this phase of work.
Phase two of the project is proposed for inclusion in a capital project referendum being finalized by the Board of Education. This work would likely include modifications to the existing outlet structure and basin piping.
