Daniel E. ‘Jake’ Nellis

Daniel E. “Jake” Nellis, age 67, of Ft. Plain, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam.

He was born September 9, 1940 in Johnstown, a son of the late Guy Nellis and Helen M. Smith Nellis.

Jake was employed in the construction industry for over twenty two years, working in all phases of construction from building homes to commercial construction. He was last employed at the former Karg Brothers Tannery in Johnstown until his retirement.

On October 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Blanche M. Russell Nellis and she passed away on May 20, 1983.

Survivors include his daughter, Danielle Bathrick; a son Jacob Bathrick; two brothers, Roy C. Nellis and his wife Caroline of Johnstown, Guy Nellis and his wife Marcy of Perth; a granddaughter, Serenity; and his companion, Helen Trask; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

There will be no funeral services.

Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to Community Health Center or to the American Cancer Society.
