MAYFIELD — A car driven by a Johnstown man who authorities said was driving drunk struck a van and injured two of its occupants at 9:14 p.m. Sunday on Route 29 at County Highway 106.
Fulton County sheriff’s deputies said van driver Edward J. VanAllen, 49, of 279 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, and a passenger, Catherine A. VanAllen, 40, complained of back injuries. Both were taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Deputies said the other driver, Donald W. Passino, 47, of 41 Cayadutta St., Johnstown, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a 0.08 percent or greater blood- alcohol content and following too closely.
Deputies said Passino was going west behind VanAllen’s van, when the van slowed to make a left turn from Route 29 to County Highway 106.
Deputies said Passino failed to slow down and his car struck VanAllen’s vehicle in the rear.
