Becoming a Town Supervisor obviously does not automatically elevate one to 'professional' status. It does, however, ferret out small people who feel a little power in their belly and become obnoxious to the detriment of their constituents who, as Westender alluded to, seriously question Ms. MacVean's credibility and effectiveness. You know Nancy, if you had just apologized to the Comptrollers Office and blamed Bush you wouldn't be in this pickle.

Ms. MacVean needs to realize that her conduct reflects very poorly upon not just herself but also her constituents. This story has been reported throughout the capital district print media, whose readers will associate her unprofessional behavior with her town and its residents.

True leaders behave in ways that positively promote their organizations and entice others to membership. Ms. MacVean's selfish and petty response has effectively accomplished just the opposite. Where is her public apology to the auditors, who were simply doing their jobs under what were clearly less than optimum conditions, and to her public, who entrusted their town to her care?
