We had this done in the Town of Mohawk a few years ago. Here's what you'll discover: First and foremost your House will be valued at a price you cannot possibly sell it for today, tomorrow or in the future. Property Tax calculations will change with some Property Taxes going up, some will go down while others remain about the same. You will be given the opportunity to 'grieve' your assessment but expect nothing more than lip-service unless you've hired a Private Assessor yourself for comparison ( in hindsight, for me that would have been money well spent). Oh, and by the way, that 220k-plus-interest bill for this is coming out of all the Homeowners pockets. Yay, add that to your future Tax bills. Makes you wonder why you pay for a full time 'City Assessor' in the first place, if his work has to be farmed out it sounds like it should be a part-time minimum wage job with no benefits.
